The advantage of CWBO

You might be asking, what in the world is “Perky Synergy”.  Bear with me please.  I will explain.  The purpose of any blog is to build credibility and trust.  We also know that the endgame of blogging is to sell something.  However, CWBO’s heartbeat is to communicate how we can nurture and build our skills in business or ministry without sacrificing friendships and our core values.  Our chief goal is to promote Christian principles, in both our professional life, as well as our personal life.  Ultimately, we want this to be a vehicle as a testimony to the world and to each other - that Jesus Christ is preeminent in all that we do. 

Most in the business world are often asking, “what are the perks; what’s in it for me?”  Perks.  What an odd-sounding word.  It’s actually a short form of the word perquisite, which is the word we normally use to describe “fringe benefits” of a job.  In the corporate world, those perks could include profit sharing, housing, group insurance, retirement benefits, daycare, sick leave, and so on. 

When you join CWBO as an active participant, we can’t promise you daycare, group insurance or even retirement benefits.  However, we can offer you the perk of “profit sharing” with a somewhat abstract but certainly a more eternal value than financial gain!   CWBO is to be a community of like-minded and like-hearted women - bringing the honor of Christ into the marketplace and into friendships with one another reaping His blessings - there can be no better “profit sharing” than this!

As C.S. Lewis once said, “The next best thing to being wise oneself is to live in a circle of those who are.”

Scripture has a lot to say about community:

• Proverbs 12:26  One who is righteous is a guide to his neighbor, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.
• Proverbs 13:20  Become wise by walking with the wise;  hang out with fools and watch your life fall to pieces.
• Proverbs 27:17 You use steel to sharpen steel, and one friend sharpens another.

What happens in a community like CWBO is “synergy".  According to Wikipedia, synergy is “the interaction of multiple elements in a system to produce an effect different from or greater than the sum of their individual effects. The term synergy comes from the Greek word synergia συνέργια from synergos, συνεργός, meaning "working together".[1]

There are many other networking groups one can join, but the uniqueness of CWBO is that its inherent foundational principles are: (1) God-centered, (2) others-focused and (3) not self-centered.  Other groups seem to cultivate a culture of “how much can I get”; as opposed to “how much can I give”.  CWBO is a place to come together with all of our different passions and callings, not forgetting that our purpose is to build a business or ministry in a (a) God-honoring way and, which, by default, is a (b) people-honoring way.  This is a very different paradigm from the typical secular networking group that manipulates and sometimes even coerces its membership for self-gain, sometimes reaping what they sow which are hollow victories at best!

As women, and as Christian women in particular, functioning in the business world, in ministry or in any entrepreneurial endeavor, sometimes can be a lonely and an intimidating process.  Our business or ministry is constantly requiring discipline, learning, and self-evaluation in the area of balance; this is especially true for working moms.  What better place is there to be than where you can be yourself, be challenged, prayed for, and cheered on?  CWBO can be that place for you!
